Hanky Panky Tea Party - Spring Meeting 2010

Twenty members and guests gathered at Rosanne’s studio on a beautiful Spring day for a Hanky Panky Tea Party. We started the day out on the patio with our scramble and social hour. It was fun seeing some members that haven’t been to a meeting recently and meeting several new members.
We enjoyed all the cookies on the cookie table as the meeting started. The tables were decorated with cute standup paper dolls with hankie skirts. At each place there was a Mary Engelbreit placemat, magnet and coaster, a tissue holder made by a friend of MaeJane's, a crocheted teacup with a candy made by Rosanne and a special hanky cookie made by Shirley Roberts. There were centerpieces of more Mary Engelbreit items.
Special guest speaker, Katie Dix, delighted us with her stories about hankies. Who knew there was such a history and etiquette associated with the little squares of cloth. At the end of her talk, Katie gifted us each with a special hankie. How special. Several members brought their own hankies with stories to share and Joy wore a wonderful jacket made of old hankies.
Hostesses Rosanne, Jeanne, June and Mae Jane made a delicious lunch with a selection of sandwiche fixings, salads and fruits. Of course we all had cookies for desert!
At the business meeting, Arlene reminded all to join the national club and plan on going to the convention in June. Nine Colorado RMCU members that we know of are currently planning on going to the convention in
California. The 2010 membership cutter, The Wedding Vase, was passed out. The cutter design was made by Elenna Firme from suggestions by Kristi. Kristi wrote the story for the cutter insert. It follows the Colorado Native American theme of the Mesa Verde cutter of last year. Elenna also made the teapot shaped meeting cutter.
We always enjoy having show and tell and seeing the treasures other friends have found in their travels and searches. The raffle was a hit as usual with everyone winning at least one of the prizes or baskets. Kathy won the door prize basket which also included a
cute catcutter by Elenna. MaeJane and Connie won the Pudsey cutters that Joyce sent for door prizes. Every one had a great time and took home a variety of cookies from the cookie table.
